The Pink Ties Fished and Hotty Toddy kept their Hot Streak Alive
Hotty Toddy had another hot day as it crew who were all "fishen' for remission" released 7 billfish to take the win by one over Vintage who released 6. The seas were not that bad and from what this reporter heard nearly every angler got to reel something in.
So ends the 2008 Ft. Pierce Billfish Derby. Please visit our photo gallery which can be found in the "links" section below.
Again, we want to thank each and every one of our participants who stuck it out over the extended weekend, and we especially want to thank all of our sponsors. Please take the time to visit them and when you purchase from them, let them you heard about them through the Ft. Pierce Billfish Derby website. They will really like hearing that.

Floridian does it again!
The Floridian has done it again. They won the 5th annual Ft. Pierce Billfish Derby by racking up another 8 catches today to add to their 15 from Friday and Saturday. With 23 releases to their credit they beat Vintage and Hotty Toddy who each had 18 releases to their credit. Vintage will claim 2nd place on time over Hotty Toddy. The entire Derby saw 120 releases over the 3 day weekend. The best one day total, 15 releases, came from the Hotty Toddy today as they eyed the prize money and bumped Masque out of the money with less than an hour left to fish.
The Floridian is now 4 for 4 when it comes to finishing in the money at the Ft. Pierce Billfish Derby and this is the second time they have taken first place. Odds are we'll see them again next year.
Your second place Vintage now has its second finish in the money. Back in 2005 they took second place. They won second place on time by releasing their last billfish several hours before the Hotty Toddy.
In third this year are the comeback kids of the decade, the anglers of the Hotty Toddy. With only 3 releases to their credit after 2 days of fishing they landed 15 on the last day and eked out the Masque for third place with less than an hour to go. The young man an the left, Van, turned out to be a keystone entry on the boat with several catches to his credit.
The entire board of directors wants to thank each and every person and company that helped make this event possible. Without your help and assistance this Derby would not be as great as it's been. The complete list of sponsors is on the side and we encourage you to support them as they have supported us.
